Domain “When I bought the Sainte-Hélène property which would become the Marciano estate, there were twenty acres of vines planted here. It was 2006, and that first year I tried to make the best possible wine with the existing vineyard. good wine, but it wasn't an exceptional wine - it wasn't the wine I was looking to make. I decided to pull out all the vines and replant with four different rootstocks better suited to the varying soil conditions of the property. asked David Abreu to join me, help replant and manage the new vineyard. During this process, I only replanted ten out of twenty acres – only on the best soils in the vineyard. Our first great vintage was 2013 – a great Napa Valley growing season by any standard and the year our new vineyard came to fruition. "Maurice Marciano Vintage The name Terra Gratia, which means "land of gratitude" in Latin, is a constant reminder of the specificity of this property and the recognition that these terroirs produce exceptional wines. The grapes for this wine are hand-picked overnight to keep the fruit chilled, hand-picked, fermented, barrel-aged and bottled, all to the highest kosher standards. Tasting notes In the glass, the wine has a dark burgundy color, with fruity aromas of blackberry, red cherry, flint, espresso and black tea. Initially, the wine has a soft texture that slowly develops into a complex mid-palate with long, firm tannins, culminating in a pleasantly dry finish brimming with flavors of plum, asphalt, leather, cocoa and cassis.
