From the 17th century to the present day, ten generations of owners have succeeded and left their mark on the history of Château Lascombes. A central figure in the history of Château Lascombes, who gave it his surname, the Chevalier Antoine de Lascombes is the oldest known owner. In 1855, Château Lascombes was elevated to second place in the classification of Grands Crus Classés. In 1952, Alexis Lichine, owner and merchant, bought the castle and restructured it from top to bottom. Under his aegis, the property enjoyed many good years and increased its reputation throughout the world. A man of experience and a winemaker of excellence, Dominique Befve arrived at the head of Château Lascombes in 2001. His years spent with the greatest – including Château Lafite-Rothschild in Pauillac – led him on the road to Château Lascombes. Under his direction, the vineyard was restructured and the winemaking methods completely reviewed, thanks in particular to more efficient modern facilities. In 2011, the MACSF group bought Château Lascombes from Colony Capital and became its owner, with the desire to raise the quality of the wines ever higher and thus perpetuate the work begun by its first owners. 2nd Grand Cru Classé. Château Lascombes owes its name to Chevalier Antoine de Lascombes who was the first owner of the Château in the 17th century. Today, the château produces wines in a "modern" register: extracted and marked by notes of very ripe fruit. Very great wines with a concentrated, even powerful style, perhaps a bit confusing for purists, lovers of "traditional" Margaux wines.
