Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest Grands Crus in Bordeaux. Its vineyard was planted in the 13th century by Bertrand de Goth, the youngest of a noble family in the Bordeaux region. Archbishop in Bordeaux, Bertrand de Goth became Pope in 1305, under the name of Clément V. The Château takes its name from it. The vineyard then belonged to the Archdiocese of Bordeaux until the French Revolution. This estate can be proud of having produced wine on the same land for 7 centuries. Bernard Magrez is a tireless builder and composer of rare wines according to the expression of the owner of this cru. At the head of many vineyards in the world, its castle, Château Pape Clément, which owes its name to Pope Clément V - owner in the year 1300 - undoubtedly remains the flagship of his entire fleet in this conquest of great terroirs and great wines. Not without passion, it is at Pape Clément (in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation) that he most aptly expresses this quest for absolute perfection.

This wine is an unparalleled gem!

First sorting in the vineyard. Grain by grain manual desewing and sorting on the table. Putting in wooden vats from 30 to 70 hl by gravity. Pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature 8°C. Entirely manual pigeages.

Maceration time: 30 to 40 days. Direct run off in French oak barrels by gravity. Malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aged for 18 months in barrels.

The wine is ruby red in color with good density, with brown, mahogany and tiled reflections. Brilliance and clarity are retained. The disc is quite thick. The tears are fine and well marked, abundant and regular.

The nose: It seems at the same time expressive, frank and complex. There are all kinds of fragrance families: fruit, floral, and spice.

Mouth: The attack is frank, round and suave, caressing even. Intense aromas first come to recall the complex sensations perceived on the nose. There is a scent of leather and slightly burnt wood, notes of roasting. The beauty of the vintage reveals elegance, more than volume. The wine shows a beautiful aromatic amplitude. As for the finish, it is remarkably elegant.
