Aged 31 years on average, the vines are planted on soils composed of dry and clayey gravel and a subsoil of shelly limestone with clay veins. The blend of Château Malartic-Lagravière red 2016 is 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. The wine is aged on fine lees in oak barrels (80% of which in new barrels).
At Chateau Malartic-Lagravière, summer sets in at the end of June with heat and drought. The deep-rooted vines and the terroir react very well to these extreme climatic conditions. The berries were finally able to perfect their maturity thanks to the rains of September 13 and the Indian summer. The harvest took place from September 29 to October 20.
